Poëziepoli

2023 -

The Poëziepoli is a mobile traveling polyclinic where patients, visitors and hospital employees can sit in for a personalized poem. Participants are seated in the clinic for a short conversation, after which the poet writes a poem for them on her typewriter and reads it to them, after which they receive the poem in an envelope. This creates a personal (analog) meeting moment in which the visitor’s imagination is from great importance.

Together with Gerda Blees (writer/poet and artist and creator of the Poetry Clinic) I designed the first test version of De Poëziepoli (see image). By now we have started on a second and more sustainable design. For this we approached Stephan Siepermann (designer) to help us create the spatial design of De Poëziepoli 2.0. This design should amaze potential participants and invite them to enter and experience De Poëziepoli. The design of De Poëziepoli 2.0 is based on the shapes and movements of the typewriter mechanism. A starting point for a playful design in which the design of this analogue machine with its characteristic sound serves as a catalyst to transport visitors and bystanders to the world of poetry.
